The general guideline: seasonally, or every three to six months
A standard clean keeps a condo fresh week to week: surfaces dusted, floors vacuumed and mopped, kitchen and bathrooms sanitized. A deep clean addresses what builds up slowly in between, such as grease inside the oven, grime in tile grout, dust along baseboards and on light fixtures, and residue on window tracks.
For a suite that is cleaned regularly, a deep clean every three to six months keeps those slower build-ups from becoming difficult to remove. Many owners like to align it with the seasons, for example a spring reset after a long winter indoors and an autumn clean before the holidays.
Factors that shorten the interval
Some households will want a deep clean closer to every three months, or even more often in particular rooms.
- Pets: hair and dander settle into baseboards, vents and upholstery
- Young children: more spills, fingerprints and floor-level mess
- Frequent cooking: grease accumulates on the range hood, backsplash and cabinet fronts
- Allergies or asthma: reducing dust and allergens becomes a priority
- High-rise dust: construction nearby and balcony doors that open often bring in fine dust
- Balcony use: tracks, sills and glass doors collect grime quickly
- Working from home: a suite in constant use simply needs more attention
Factors that lengthen it
A suite occupied by one or two people who travel often, cook lightly and keep up with weekly or biweekly standard cleaning may only need a deep clean twice a year. The more consistent your regular cleaning, the longer you can comfortably go between deep cleans.
If you are not sure where you stand, look at the details: the grout lines in the shower, the top of the refrigerator, the window tracks behind the curtains. If those areas are noticeably dusty or dull, it is time.
It also helps to think room by room rather than suite-wide. The kitchen and bathrooms usually need deep attention first, while a guest bedroom or a rarely used den can go longer. Some owners alternate, asking for extra detail in the kitchen one season and the bathrooms the next, between full deep cleans.
What a condo deep clean adds
Our deep condo package, The Renewal, includes everything in our standard condo clean, The Essentials, plus the detail work that regular visits do not reach. Typical additions include:
- Interior of the oven and microwave
- Interior of the refrigerator, including shelves and drawers
- Detailed baseboard cleaning throughout
- Grout and tile scrubbed in the kitchen and bathrooms
- Interior window sills and tracks
- Light fixtures dusted and cleaned
Planning around condo life
Condo living brings a few practical considerations. Let your concierge know when cleaners are expected, arrange visitor parking where possible, and mention any building rules about working hours. Because deep cleans take longer than standard visits, booking a morning slot gives the team plenty of time without rushing.
If you also keep plants or furniture on your balcony, mention it in advance so the team can plan for the door tracks and glass. Our guide to standard vs deep cleaning covers the differences between the two in more detail.
