What determines the cost of house cleaning in Mississauga, Oakville and Brampton?

The cost of house cleaning comes down to how much time and care your home needs: its size and layout, its current condition, how often it is cleaned, the type of service, and any add-ons. A reputable quote also reflects proper insurance, WSIB coverage and vetted staff.

Size, layout and the rooms that take the most time

Square footage is the starting point, but it is rarely the whole story. Two homes of the same size can take very different amounts of time to clean depending on how they are laid out and what is in them. Bathrooms and kitchens are the most labour-intensive rooms in any home, so the number of bathrooms often matters more than the number of bedrooms.

A three-storey townhouse in Brampton with stairs between every level takes longer than a single-level bungalow of similar size. A two-bedroom condo with floor-to-ceiling glass and a large balcony door has different demands from a detached home with a finished basement. When we prepare a quote, we look at the whole picture rather than a single number.

  • Total finished living space, including basements
  • Number of bathrooms and powder rooms
  • Number of bedrooms and living areas
  • Stairs, multiple levels and open-concept spaces
  • Amount of furniture, décor and surfaces to dust around

Condition, pets and how the home is lived in

A home that has been cleaned regularly needs maintenance; a home that has gone several months without a thorough clean needs restoration. Built-up soap scum, grease on range hoods and dust on baseboards all take additional time to remove properly. That is why a first visit is often scoped differently from the visits that follow.

Pets add hair on upholstery, stairs and floors, and sometimes nose prints on glass doors. Young children, home offices, frequent cooking and busy entertaining schedules all change how much attention a home needs. None of this is a problem; it simply belongs in an accurate estimate.

Standard, deep or move-out: the type of service

The scope of work is one of the largest factors. A standard clean maintains a home that is already in good shape. A deep clean adds detail work such as appliance interiors, grout, baseboards and light fixtures. A move-out clean goes further again, covering empty cabinets, closets and drawers so a home is ready for its next occupants. Our guide to standard vs deep cleaning explains the differences in detail.

Add-ons are priced according to the time they require. Common examples include:

  • Inside the oven, microwave or refrigerator
  • Interior windows, sills and tracks
  • Inside cabinets and drawers
  • Laundry or bed linen changes
  • Balconies, patios or garages

Why recurring cleaning is priced differently

A home cleaned weekly or every two weeks never has the chance to accumulate the build-up that a one-time visit must tackle. Each visit is more predictable, the team knows the home and its priorities, and scheduling is planned well in advance. For those reasons, recurring cleaning is priced differently from a one-time clean, and recurring clients receive priority scheduling and preferred rates.

Access matters too. Parking availability, concierge sign-in, elevator wait times in high-rise condos and whether someone will be home all affect how efficiently a visit runs. Clear access instructions help keep the time, and the quote, accurate.

Beware of quotes that leave out insurance and WSIB

An unusually low quote often reflects what is missing rather than what is included. Commercial general liability insurance, WSIB workplace coverage, background checks and proper training all carry real costs for a legitimate company. When those protections are absent, the risk of an accidental damage claim or a workplace injury in your home can shift to you.

Before you book anyone, ask for proof of coverage. Our article on why WSIB and insurance matter lists the questions worth asking, and you can read how we approach this on our insurance and safety page.

How to get an accurate quote from Sevenday Services

Sevenday Services does not publish fixed price lists, because every home is different and a figure without context is rarely the figure you end up paying. Instead, we prepare a quote based on your home and the service you want. The most accurate way to start is our Quick Quote: share a few details about your home and, ideally, a handful of photos of the kitchen, bathrooms and main living areas.

Photos let us see the condition and layout before we arrive, so the quote reflects the real scope of work. We follow up on every request within one business day. Every visit is carried out by background-checked, uniformed cleaners using premium non-toxic products, documented with before-and-after photos, and backed by our satisfaction re-clean guarantee.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why don't cleaning companies list a single price for every home?

Homes vary too much for one price to be fair. Two houses of the same size can differ in bathrooms, stairs, condition, pets and how they are lived in. A quote based on the actual home avoids surprises on the day and ensures the time booked matches the work required, which protects both the client and the quality of the clean.

Is the first cleaning visit usually different from later visits?

Often, yes. A first visit may need to address build-up that has accumulated over time, such as soap scum, kitchen grease or dusty baseboards. Once a home is on a regular schedule, each visit becomes maintenance and is more predictable. Many clients begin with a deep clean and then move to a recurring standard clean.

Do photos really make a difference to a cleaning quote?

They do. Photos of the kitchen, bathrooms and main living spaces show condition, layout and finishes far better than a written description. They help us estimate time accurately, flag anything that needs special care, and reduce the chance of the scope changing once the team arrives. Photos are highly recommended on our Quick Quote.

Does parking or building access affect the quote?

It can. Limited parking, concierge check-in, elevator bookings and long walks from the loading area all add time to a visit. Letting us know about access arrangements in advance allows us to plan properly, arrive prepared and keep the visit running smoothly, especially in high-rise condominium buildings.

Move-out cleaning checklist for Ontario: room by room

A thorough move-out clean covers every room inside and out: cabinets, closets, appliances, bathrooms, floors and fixtures, all left empty and spotless. In Ontario it is less about recovering a deposit and more about a smooth handover, a good reference and a home that is ready for its next occupants.

How often should you deep clean a condo?

For most condos, a deep clean every three to six months, or roughly once a season, is a sensible rhythm alongside regular standard cleaning. Pets, children, frequent cooking, allergies and a well-used balcony can all justify a shorter interval.
